Bear And Date

Samcafe New Lightbox 113

Piarom is one of the most renowned varieties of dates in Iran, mainly cultivated in the Hajiabad region of Hormozgan Province. It belongs to the semi‑dry date category and is characterized by its elongated shape, dark brown to chocolate-colored skin, and a thin peel that adheres closely to the flesh. Compared to many other varieties, it is typically larger and firmer.

Because it ripens late and requires careful grading for domestic sale and export, its harvesting and processing are more time‑consuming. The region’s distinctive climate—very hot summers and mild winters—plays a key role in shaping the quality and characteristics of this date.

In Iran, Piarom dates are sometimes used as a supplementary food source for the Asiatic black bear in conservation and feeding programs, particularly during periods when natural food resources are scarce.

Revenue from the sale of this product is used to support environmental conservation efforts in Iran.
