Zamineh Journal

Products Mockup

Zamineh Journal is dedicated to publishing timely, independent writing that remains closely connected to the evolving landscape of Iranian contemporary visual art. Its editorial approach is shaped by emerging voices and focuses on producing and translating texts that are both accessible and rigorous—carefully adapted to the local context while maintaining intellectual precision. The journal is intended for a broad audience, including artists, critics, researchers, collectors, and gallerists.

Each issue explores a wide range of subjects related to contemporary art, from overlooked historical texts and art historiography to essays, conversations, reviews, and critical perspectives on current artistic practices.

The second issue of Zamineh magazine is centered on the perception of images and the possibility of discussing them in the contemporary context, approaching the relationship between art, crisis, memory, history, and representation from different perspectives. The articles in this issue address the experience of war and the transformation of the urban landscape, the response of the visual arts community to collective crises, the relationship of contemporary painting to architecture and Iran’s visual heritage, as well as photography, indexicality, the digital image, and the condition of the subject. This issue also includes a review of several exhibitions presented by Iranian galleries abroad.
